U.S. companies have increasingly embraced and internalized the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and in the process, have devised innovative metrics and means to demonstrate the value, return on investment and impact of business SDG implementation, and to communicate that value and impact to a variety of audiences.
As awareness grows that the international community risks falling short of vital 2015 climate and sustainability commitments, U.S. business is committed to deliver action, develop tools, pursue successful and effective partnerships and encourage inclusive governance that scales up implementation and mobilizes resources for SDG challenges, working with governments and the UN system.
This unique U.S. business event will highlight USCIB’s Businessfor2030 web platform, which showcases business’ continuing contributions to sustainable development through the prism of the SDGs. The event will present specific examples and innovative approaches in the following areas:
- Embedding SDGs in company management and business – Internal and External ROI and Value Propositions for Business
- Measuring Impact of private sector SDG action, inside & outside the fenceline
- Reporting Progress on SDGs – Reaching audiences, Connecting with the International Community
- Growing the Opportunities: Catalyzing More from UN-private sector partnerships
Throughout this meeting, USCIB member companies from a range of sectors will join government and other stakeholder partners to offer lessons relevant to the 2019 review of SDG implementation, and consider ways to strengthen the next chapter in international cooperation and business engagement to deliver the SDGs.
Further information about this and other USCIB events during UNGA73 will follow in future updates.
