OECD Working Party on State Ownership & Privatization Practices

The OECD Working Party on State Ownership and Privatization Practices (WP SOPP) will meet April 18-19. As part of this meeting, there will be a consultation with Business at OECD (BIAC) and the trade unions at OECD (TUAC) on the morning of April 18.

As reported earlier this year, the WP SOPP is revising this year the OECD Guidelines on Corporate Governance of State-Owned Enterprises (SOE Guidelines) to align with updates made last year to the G20/OECD Principles of Corporate Governance (Principles), an interrelated document. The SOE Guidelines, adopted by the OECD in 2005 and updated in 2015, set the top legal standard for public officials to use to devise effective institutional, legal and regulatory frameworks for the ownership and governance of state-owned enterprises. Of note, they set important benchmarks for reform of the publicly owned companies in the five OECD candidate countries seeking accession.
