USCIB Congratulates John Hurley on His Confirmation as Next US Ambassador to the OECD

New York, New York, August 10, 2026—The United States Council for International Business (USCIB) congratulates John Hurley on his confirmation as the next United States Ambassador to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Prior to this appointment, Hurley was the US Treasury’s Undersecretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence.

For decades, USCIB has served as the US representative to Business at OECD (BIAC), the private sector voice in OECD policymaking. USCIB attests to the positive impact of the OECD across a range of issues that affect the competitiveness of the US economy. These issues include taxation, trade, anti-illicit trade, critical minerals, competition, energy and environment, health, investment, and corporate governance.

“USCIB welcomes John Hurley as the next OECD Ambassador,” said Whitney Baird, President and CEO at USCIB, and a former Chargé d’Affaires of the US Mission to the OECD. “The OECD is an institutional voice of evidence-based policy guidance and a critical forum for our members; it is uniquely open and receptive to the views and expertise of the private sector. We look forward to working with Ambassador Hurley and his staff to support the OECD’s mission to promote global economic growth, which benefits US businesses, consumers, and workers.”
