USCIB staff met with Doreen Bogdan-Martin, Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) on March 17 at USCIB’s Washington office to discuss the importance of the ITU’s work in global digital policy for US business. USCIB appreciated the opportunity to meet with Bogdan-Martin while she was in Washington for meetings as the ITU prepares for the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS + 20) Review.

The meeting took place prior to the United States ITU Association (USITUA) membership Meeting, where members discussed new developments in radiocommunication, development, standardization and key ITU priorities.  The mission of the USITUA is to develop consensus on private sector views of ITU proposals. USCIB members Amy Alvarez (AT&T), Chris Hemmerlein (Amazon), Aspa Paroutsas (Qualcomm), and Kim Kolb (Boeing) serve on the USITUA Board.

USCIB will be participating in the ITU’s “AI for Good Summit” and WSIS+20 High Level Event which will take place in Geneva in July.
