The annual UN Forum on Business and Human Rights (BHR) was held from November 25-27 in Geneva. Thousands of representatives from various sectors attended, including a delegation from USCIB. This year’s theme was “Realizing the Smart Mix of Measures” to protect human rights in business activities. USCIB participated in an official session on the UN Treaty on BHR.
Ewa Staworzynska, USCIB Director of Corporate Responsibility and Labor Affairs and Chair of the IOE Policy Working Group on BHR and Responsible Business Conduct (RBC), led a closed-door business caucus dialogue with Ambassador Omar Zniber, President of the Human Rights Council and Permanent Representative of Morocco to the UN Office in Geneva. Jose Arroyo, USCIB Manager for CRLA also attended the dialogue.
The USCIB delegation also met with US Ambassador Michèle Taylor to discuss BHR developments and policy priorities. Additionally, the US business community took part in a closed-door meeting with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), organized by the IOE, to discuss policy trends and solutions to advance the UN Guiding Principles on BHR (UNGPs).
