USCIB Issues ATA Carnet Advisory for Qatar

New York, N.Y., August 30, 2022 — As the national guaranteeing and issuing association for the ATA Carnet in the U.S., the United States Council for International Business (USCIB) is pleased to announce that customs of Qatar has approved the use of ATA Carnets for Professional Equipment (PE) from October 2022 to December 2022 in the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2022 held in Qatar.

Qatar implemented ATA Carnets on August 1, 2018, and the scope of application accepted is for Exhibition and Fairs only. Professional equipment, such as broadcasting equipment, was not applicable for ATA Carnets entering Qatar. Considering the need of the media industry and to facilitate the FIFA World cup 2022, the Qatar Chamber of Commerce (QCCI), the national guaranteeing association in Qatar, has devoted great efforts to convince Qatari authorities for this special acceptance.

Please note that this expansion is on an exceptional basis and the final date of re-exportation will be given by the Qatari Customs officials at the time of entry, which Carnet Holders must abide to.

ATA Carnet, a custom document for temporary imports, is honored in over 80 customs countries and territories and can be used for multiple trips during a one-year period. The global ATA Carnet system is overseen by the Paris-based International Chamber of Commerce. USCIB administers the Carnet system in the United States.
