USCIB Participates in Dialogue on Commodities at the United Nations General Assembly

USCIB Senior Vice President, Global Impact Initiatives Kristen Edgreen Kaufman delivering her remarks at the Dialogue on Commodity Markets.

In a unique opportunity, USCIB participated in a United Nations General Assembly’s (UNGA) Dialogue on Commodities, alongside USCIB member Kenan Arkan (J.P. Morgan), on May 21. Arkan participated as a panelist during the session on “World Commodity Trends and Prospects (Energy, Minerals and Agriculture)” while Kristen Edgreen Kaufman, Senior Vice President, Global Impact Initiatives at USCIB, underscored the private sector’s role in supporting more resilient and diversified commodity markets.

According to Kaufman, this event showcased USCIB’s value add in giving members access to unique opportunities at the UN.

Annalena Baerbock, President of the UN General Assembly, convened this event to focus on global commodity trends and prospects, economic diversification, and sustainable development, particularly in commodity-dependent developing countries.

Kaufman highlighted four business priorities: enhance transparency and predictability in commodity-related trade measures; improve the enabling environment for investment in developing countries; streamline responsible business conduct and due diligence frameworks; and treat recycling and circularity as integral to resilient commodity supply.

“Business is ready to become an active partner, presenting themselves with technology, project development expertise, and finance to support diversification, local value addition, and stronger supply chains,” said Kaufman.
